My Story

I was born and raised along the shores of Lake Victoria an area where fishing is the main source of livelihood. Then, there were enough fish to sustain communities. When young , we could swim freely in the lake without fear of crocodile attacks. Over the years, the water level along the lake increases rapidly due to climate change. Combined with over fishing and rapid increase in number of crocodiles it has become impossible for the current generation to swim in the lake . In an effort to mitigate depletion of fish resources in lake victoria, reduce crocodile attacks , eradicate poverty and promote alternative sources of livelihoods, I collaborate with local communities in creating sustainable agriculture and food systems that offer alternative sources of livelihood. This involves promotion of farmer led agricultural innovations, create of a community seed bank and training farmers in agribusiness to minimize over reliance on fishing.
